Her feud with Parsons was real, and in most popularity contests she came out the winner, pronounced by Life "infinitely more liked by the movie colony than her ruthless rival." Her personal demeanor was highlighted by a colorful vocabulary and outrageous hats. She died Feb. 1, 1966.
