I may have been dressed as a falcon, but I felt like I was the biggest, most noticeable person around. The costume made me stand out in the crowd, drawing attention and making me feel self-conscious about my appearance and actions.
Despite the costume, my feelings of being overwhelmed or out of place resonated with themes from Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life by James Patterson. It captures the awkwardness and struggles of adolescence, much like how I felt in that costume moment.
