"Prodigy" is the second installment in Marie Lu's dystopian young adult series, following "Legend." Set in a future where the United States has been divided into two warring factions, the story continues the journey of its protagonists, June and Day, as they navigate the complexities of their world. After the events in the first book, both characters find themselves at a crossroads, grappling with their personal loyalties and the larger political landscape that threatens to consume them.
The narrative focuses on the growing conflict between the Republic and the Colonies. June and Day become key players in a revolution, as they meet new allies and face formidable foes. As they seek to undermine the oppressive regime of the Republic, they must also confront their feelings for each other and the sacrifices that come with fighting for freedom.
