A voice had begun to sing. It was very far away and Digory found it hard to decide from what direction it was coming. Sometimes it seemed to come from all directions at once. Sometimes he almost thought it was coming out of the earth beneath them. Its lower notes were deep enough to be the voice of the earth herself. There were no words. It was hardly a tune. But it was beyond comparison, the most beautiful sound he had ever heard.

In this excerpt from "The Magician's Nephew" by C.S. Lewis, Digory experiences a mesmerizing voice that resonates with an ethereal quality. The source of the sound is elusive, appearing to come from various directions, even from below the earth itself. The voice's deep, lower notes evoke the sense of the earth's own voice, suggesting a profound connection to nature.

The sound lacks words and traditional melody but captivates Digory with its unparalleled beauty. This moment illustrates the enchanting power of music and how it can evoke deep emotions and a sense of wonder, transcending ordinary experience.
