If it wasn't for the fact that Bruno was nowhere near as skinny as the boys on his side of the fence, and not quite so pale either, it would have been difficult to tell them apart. It was almost {Shmuel thought} as if they were all exactly the same really.
"Shmuel observed that Bruno's appearance was somewhat different from the boys on his side of the fence, as Bruno was neither as skinny nor as pale. Despite these differences, he felt that Bruno and the other boys resembled each other very closely."
"Shmuel's thought reflected a sense of similarity among the boys, almost to the point where they all seemed identical, emphasizing themes of connection and sameness despite superficial differences in appearance."
