Maybe books are best, because you don't have to have money to read... A man can travel all over the world and come back the same kind of fool he was when he started. You can't do that with books.

In "The Fires of Spring," author James A. Michener reflects on the unique value of books. He suggests that reading is accessible to everyone, regardless of financial status, allowing individuals to explore different ideas and experiences without any cost. This democratization of knowledge emphasizes the importance of literature in personal growth and understanding the world.

Michener further argues that although one can physically travel to distant places, that experience does not necessarily result in personal growth or enlightenment. In contrast, the wisdom gained from reading books can profoundly change one's perspective and understanding, making them a more meaningful journey than mere travel.
