All the basic principles of Bhakti yoga are richly exemplified in Christianity. From the Hindu point of view, Christianity is one great brilliantly lit highway toward God, not greater than other paths, but more clearly marked. On this path God is conceived differently than in jnana yoga, where the guiding image was of an infinite sea of being underlying the waves of our finite selves. This sea typified the all-pervading Self, which is a much within us as without.
According to Huston Smith's insights, Bhakti yoga principles are evident in Christianity, which is viewed as a well-lit path toward God. This perspective highlights that while Christianity is not superior to other spiritual routes, it offers clearer guidance in the pursuit of divine connection. It emphasizes devotion and love for God, aligning with the core of Bhakti yoga.
In contrast to jnana yoga, where God is associated with a vast sea of existence, Christianity's vision of God differs significantly. Instead of an abstract concept, Christianity presents a more personal and relatable image of the divine.
