Hideki Tojo was a prominent military leader and politician in Japan, best known for his role during World War II. Born in 1884, Tojo joined the Imperial Japanese Army and quickly rose through the ranks, advocating for Japan's expansionist policies. He served as the Chief of Staff for the Kwantung Army in Manchuria, which significantly influenced Japan's militaristic direction in the 1930s. In 1941, Tojo became Prime Minister and played a crucial role in Japan's decision to attack Pearl Harbor, leading to the country’s entry into World War II. As Prime Minister, he oversaw many military campaigns and was associated with Japan's aggressive wartime strategies, which included extensive atrocities in occupied territories. His leadership style was characterized by rigid militarism and a commitment to the emperor.
